Biggest Weakness Self-righting may be slow, leaving themselves open to attack. Also their sides are less armoured than the front and rear.

Wyrm is a four-wheeled drive robot with a wedge of eight millimetres of armoured hardened steel at the front for protection. It also has triangles of cut UHMWPE that aims to act as ‘greebles’ to give it a reptile-esque look. The team has uniquely used ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) to protect the sides, top and bottom. This is similar to the polycarbonate of the arena, but with better abrasion resistance. Wyrm also used motors taken from electric scooters.

What makes Wyrm unique...

After lasting a mere 23 seconds in the arena last series with their mostly wooden robot ‘Overdozer’, the team have come back with a reptile inspired robot. It has been Nicholas’ dream to create a robot that can be built with the very least amount of machinery. He believes robots can be upcycled, therefore many elements of Wyrm have come from scrap.
