Ironside 3 is a blue, silver and red painted compact octagonal robot with 35 kilogram bar spinner running at 1,500 revolutions per minute. It was one of the most destructive robots from last series, however this time around it has returned with a better motor which will speed up the weapon hugely, supposedly so much so, that you will not be able to see the interchangeable flat blade and cutting edge blade when it’s in action. Ironside 3 is also equipped with a new self-righting mechanism which is four times faster.

What makes Ironside-3 unique...

Ironside 3 will be distinctively noticeable due to the extreme gyroscopic effect that the blade has at full pace. The robot will appear to ‘dance’ and generate sparks every time it hits the floor. It’s colours also make the robot distinctive and are a homage to the RAF. Last year the team were eliminated in a controversial judge’s decision. However, this series Ironside 3 is a beefed-up version; faster, stronger, quicker, plus it has the longest and heaviest spinning bar weapon in the competition.
