Biggest Weakness As Sabretooth is an entirely new robot, the team have never tested its full capabilities in battle – they hope that the composite plastic and hardened steel armour will be strong enough, but are concerned it might not be.

Sabretooth features three different weapons (at one time) – a 22kg aluminium drum spinner on one side of the robot, which operates at 4500rpm, along with a flipper and moveable gripper on the other side. The structure has two layers of armour plate with HDPE (High Density Polyethylene) – what hard hats are made out of – keeping it light and agile. The team designed Sabretooth to be built like a kit, and therefore make it quick to build and easy to build parts.

What makes Sabretooth unique...

Daughter, Esme, is the ‘Robot Wars baby:’ whilst competing in the original series, Team Captain Gabriel had to rush Esme’s mum to hospital to give birth to Esme. With Dad driving and Esme operating the weapons, the team claim they will have an ‘instinctive driving relationship.’
