Eruption is a large, powerful Flipper robot with a fixed gripping spike above. The team claim to have the most powerful flipper in the country, based on victories at amateur events. This flipper has the capacity to launch any fellow competitor’s robot ten feet in the air. Eruption uses a custom built control circuit to fire the flipper. This allows the team to alter the amount of CO2 they use for each flip, in the hope that they will never run out of CO2 mid-battle.

What makes Eruption unique...

Michael is one of the youngest team captains in the competition, and the team claims he is ‘one of the best drivers in the country,’ as they’ve won many amateur UK championships. Michael has been driving robots since he was six years old and loved watching the original series when he was two. Team Eruption has used their £1,000 to transform their regular flipper robot into a Flipper and Gripper robot, which is a “very rare” combination of weaponry in the robot combat community.
